Keep Calm Sign

Does anyone else have that light bulb moment that you're so proud of because you came up with an idea that you thought of yourself and didn't just come from Pinterest?  That was this project for me.

My brilliant idea was to make a chalk board "Keep Calm" sign.  This way you can carry on or whatever else you would like to do to suit your mood.

I started with some scrap wood from when my boyfriend did renos at his house.  I painted the front with 3 coats of chalkboard paint, and one quick coat of acrylic on the back.

I then used my Silhouette to cut out the lettering "Keep Calm and" out of white vinyl.  Sometimes when I do stuff like this my cheating tip is to import the sign I'm copying, and then add the text overtop so that I can copy the font, size and spacing as best I can, and then delete the imported image before cutting.

I bought a crown shape from the online Silhouette store.

I ended up making two of these.  One for myself...

keep calm and drink coffee2
(ignore the funny splotches, I was impatient and had just finished cleaning this one up after seasoning it with chalk, so it hadn't fully dried yet)

And one for my sister to give to her at her Bridal Shower!

keep calm and...

The best thing about these boards, I had everything on hand so it was really just a matter of putting it together!
